Fall is such a beautiful season and if you are anything like me, you want to encourage your kids to spend as much time outdoors as possible. One way to encourage them is through fun nature walks. One of my kids’ favorite outdoor activities is going for walks and collecting things along the way. From sticks and rocks to pinecones and moss my kids love stashing them away in their pockets for me to find later.

This is why I created and am sharing with you this nature scavenger hunt printable. On this nature scavenger hunt printable you and your kids will search for items on your walk ranging from an acorn and pine needles to a feather, bird’s nest and more.

Your kids will have a blast looking for these items and you will be glad they are getting some screen-free time spent outdoors. After doing this nature scavenger hunt printable your kids will be looking forward to when they can do it again.

Directions

First, download one of my nature scavenger hunt printables below. I have a picture scavenger hunt, list scavenger hunt and blank scavenger hunt to choose from.

On the picture scavenger hunt there are both words and pictures of each of the items to find. This is great if you have toddlers and young children who cannot read yet. The list scavenger hunt has the same items but just the words so if you have older children and would like to save on ink you’ll want to use that one.

Now, download and print your scavenger hunt. If you have a laminator I recommend laminating the scavenger hunt so you can reuse it in the future. If not, you can always save this post for later and download and print again.

Next, go on a walk around your neighborhood and see if you can find all 25 items on the list.

If your kids are like mine and shove all the cool treasures they find on their walk in their pockets, try bringing a bug catcher box along. My kids have this Melissa & Doug butterfly bug catcher and it has an easy carrying handle and is perfect for carrying rocks, pinecones, acorns etc.

If you choose the blank scavenger hunt have your kids brainstorm nature items. Then, fill out the blank scavenger hunt and go for a nature walk as a family. See if you can find all of your nature items.
